CFNC INFORMATION

AFSA Day 2018 will take place on Saturday, October 28th. We have an awesome new interactive map at www.cfnc.org/fafsaday - check it out and share with your students!

• While you’re on CFNC.org, take note that the Grants and Scholarships section under “Pay” will berevamped in the coming weeks. This is excellent timing as seniors start to thinking about paying for college in the coming months. Scholarships will be listed in an easy-to-read fashion to help enable and encourage application completion from students. Coming soon!

 

• Residency Determination Service (RDS) – As you assist students with college applications and RDS, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions. Also, be sure to keep at an eye out for more trainings at CFNC.org - https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/registerlist.asp?m=227&p=2&width=950&s=7&sb=1&tid=222 One of the biggest tips I can offer right now is to stress to students the importance of taking the time to answer questions correctly as they go through the RDS process. This will determine their residency, and there is a big difference between in-state and out of state tuition. Also, remember that we have reconsideration and an appeal process that students can go through if needed, and turnaround may be as quick as a week. We’ve heard great feedback from students who have gone through RDS – it is simple and fast for most students.​
• College Application Month – www.cfnc.org/cam (or caw) and ncollegeapplicationmonth.org will take place October 28th – November 24th, with some colleges waiving their application fees during the week of November 13th. Please note that this is a month-long event now. Please keep a lookout for programming suggestions at the websites mentioned above. Let’s celebrate this exciting time for high school seniors all of November! If you have an event you would like help planning, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
